The Bio Steel Cycle: 7 Steps to Net-Zero CO2 Emissions Steel Production
نویسندگان
چکیده
CO2 emissions have been identified as the main driver for climate change, with devastating consequences global natural environment. The steel industry is responsible ~7–11% of emissions, due to high fossil-fuel and energy consumption. onus therefore on remedy environmental damage caused decarbonise production. This desk research report explores Bio Steel Cycle (BiSC) proposes a seven-step-strategy overcome emission challenges within iron industry. true levels combined from blast-furnace basic-oxygen-furnace operation, at 4.61 t emissions/t produced, are calculated in detail. BiSC includes capture, implementing renewable sources (solar, wind, green H2) plantation absorption provision biomass. 7-step-implementation-strategy starts replacing sources, develops over process improvement installation flue gas carbon concludes utilising biogas-derived hydrogen, product anaerobic digestion grown agrifood cycle. In past, seemingly underreported underestimated heavy industries, BiSC, using provided seven-steps-strategy will potentially result achieving net-zero manufacturing by 2030.

Optimization of Syngas Production Systems Subject to Almost Net-Zero CO2 Emissions
This work describes two different configurations of syngas production processes using a combination of steam methane reforming (SMR) and dry reforming of methane (DRM). The ideal SMR+DRM process ensures the maximum product yield, the heat-integrated SMR+DRM process fulfills the maximum heat recovery, and the stand-alone SMR+DRM process effectively suppress net CO2 emissions. Through kinetic mod...
متن کاملTowards zero CO2 emissions in the production of methanol from switchgrass. CO2 to methanol
In this work an integrated facility is proposed that produces methanol from switchgrass and uses the captured CO2 to enhance the production capacity by 50% via CO2 hydrogenation. The process consists of two sections, biomass processing to syngas and its conversion to methanol, and the electrolytic section where hydrogen is produced to hydrogenate the CO2 that has been captured during syngas cle...
متن کاملLife cycle assessment of steel production from iron scrap: a case study at a steel plant
Background and Objective: The steel industry is the world's largest consumer of energy. A large amount of iron waste is produced annually, which its use in the steel industry can be economic. The purpose of this study was to investigate the environmental impacts of the steelmaking from iron scrap as a raw material using a life cycle assessment (LCA) method. Materials and Methods: Simapro softw...
متن کاملEffects on global CO2 emissions when substituting LPG with bio-SNG as fuel in steel industry reheating furnaces: The impact of different perspectives on CO2 assessment
The iron and steel industry is the second largest user of energy in the world industrial sector and is currently highly dependent on fossil fuels and electricity. Substituting fossil fuels with renewable energy in the iron and steel industry would make an important contribution to the efforts to reduce emissions of CO2. However, different approaches to assessing CO2 emissions from biomass and e...
